Course Description:
Syllabus

This is a mini-course intended to provide students with an overview of topology
as it applies to condensed matter physics.

Topics may include:

  • Berry phase
  • Chern numbers and other invariants
  • Quantum Hall Effect
  • 2D and 3D Topological insulators
  • Dirac and Weyl semimetals
  • Skyrmions
  • Majorana fermions
  • Mathematical underpinnings of topology
  • Symmetry

Grading:

Grades will be based on in-class participation, homework, and presentations.
